2009 Citizenship Law Applies to Adopted Children

The Canadian government has adopted a new citizenship law that solves a series of questions about Canadian Citizenship Act (Bill C-37). Buried in that law is a provision that has gone unnoticed until now, which imposes limits on the rights of Canadian citizenship for children adopted abroad. Recent articles in the National Post, Globe & Mail and Ottawa Citizen allowed these provisions to the attention of the adoption community.
